I’ve been in the disability space for 20 years. This journey has taken me from learning to walk again (with a cane) after being paralyzed–to a doctoral program where I studied technology, disability, and engagement–to a career collaborating with disability policy, technology, and research experts to promote an inclusive society.
The most exciting disability-focused project of my career was leading the contracting team that collaborated with the National Council on Disability (NCD) to write the NCD 2016 Annual Progress Report to the White House and Congress. The report focuses on technology, policy, and disability. Giving talks about technology and disability has been a close second. I’ve spoken in conference, university, and code academy settings here in the states, and have given a few talks abroad in Johannesburg and Hong Kong. I also volunteer as a 1776 expert to raise awareness among startups. Take a look at a LinkedIn post I wrote addressing technology and people with disabilities.
